Moshi ~ Sunday

Sunday, January 19

It was a beautiful morning so we went up to the top floor of our hotel to get a good view of Kili today ~

Being Sunday morning things were quiet in town. We walked around and stopped at Union Coffee for breakfast.

We walked passed one of the government hospitals ~ praying we don't get sick ~

Dana's friend Cocoa had some donations for Upendo so we met her back at our old hotel and we all walked back up to mama Elitha's. We walked by the house that Dana will be staying in when we leave. This used to be a volunteer house but it is now a B&B. Some people were there and invited us in ~ turns out there were two couples staying there who had rented the whole house for the month.

Then we checked out another volunteer house ~

Across the street from the volunteer house is the Mzungu Bar ~ where all of the volunteers go.

Gracie who owns the bar ~

We find this little guy running around everywhere ~ very colorful ~

When we arrived at Upendo, all of the kids were taking their naps so we couldn't see them. We went around the corner to see mama Elitha and
Bonus ~ Kisha hadn't left for school yet ~
We were able to play for a while ~ the rubber band bracelets came out and we had a quick lesson ~ the kids all LOVED them and so did the adults ~ so thanks to Allayna, Caitlin and Zachary for making all of the bracelets for the kids.

Cocoa got surrounded by the kids as well ~

Someone found a turtle but Penuela didn't like it ~ she ran to John for safety ~

Jennifer getting an attitude ~

Time for Kisha to go back to school ~

We sadly said our good byes~

And off she went ~ and the four of us headed home ~ nope, can't take her ~

We walked about five miles today and it was extremely hot (106) ~ but this shaded road was beautiful ~

Dana thinks this one is called a "Christmas tree" ~ we have seen several and they are beautiful ~

we thought we earned a stop at FiFi's ~ the newest of the coffee shops ~

We hung out in the lounge for the evening with Cocoa and Moira ~

One of the big industries in Tanzania is mining of the tanzanite gem. Many visitors are interested in purchasing the stones on their visit to Tanzania. While we were sitting in the lounge a jeweler came it to show some stones to other guests. Of course we got into it as well. It was fun just looking ~ (these are the tiny stones ~ some he had were huge)
