Nungwi

Friday, January 31

For the last couple of days John has been watching a freighter sitting out in the ocean ~ just waiting to enter port. About 5:00 am we heard the ship's horn ~ John jumped out of bed ~ the freighter that had been in dock was leaving and the one he had been watching was entering. Thank goodness he got to see it before we left.

Securing a cab through the hotel, we left Stone Town about 9:00 heading to Nungwi at the northern tip of Zanzibar.
OMG ~ what beautiful beaches ~ the sand is so white ~ the water so blue ~ aqua really ~

We are staying at Smiles Beach Hotel~

waiting for our room ~

Our beach ~

We took a walk down the beach while the tide was out ~

Hotel after hotel ~

Continuous sand ~

A little friend ~

Our building ~ we are top left ~ Dana bottom left ~

Selfie on the beach ~

Nungwi is a fishing village so it is entertaining to sit and watch the fishermen head out in the dhow boats ~

And of course the sun setting over the Indian Ocean ~

Our hotel is the perfect location for watching the setting sun ~

Then we went to Gerry's Bar for dinner ~ it was delicious ~

Again ~ can't beat the ambiance ~
